Security and privacy in QuackDB for Mac
How connection passwords are stored, how connections are made and how destructive actions are handled.
A database client sits between you and data that matters, so it should be predictable about what it stores and what it sends. This article describes how QuackDB for Mac handles each.
Credentials
Connection passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, which is the system's protected store for secrets. They are not written to a settings file. For SQLite, QuackDB keeps access only to the database files you chose.
Where your data goes
QuackDB connects directly from your Mac to your database. Your queries and results do not pass through QuackDB servers. Supabase connections use SSL.
Safeguards against mistakes
- Edits are held as pending changes and applied only when you commit them.
- Each commit is recorded with a message and can be undone from the History tab.
- Dropping a table asks you to type a confirmation.
- Clearing local data asks you to type
DELETE.
Accounts
You can use QuackDB without signing in. An account is optional and is used for sign-in and subscription features. What the website itself collects is described in the Privacy Policy, and you can manage your choices on the Privacy choices page.
