1. Introduction

Welcome to QuackDB. This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your information when you use the QuackDB desktop application and website. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application or website.

By downloading, installing, or using the QuackDB application, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service. The application is free to download with limited functionality. Your use of QuackDB, whether free or paid, constitutes acceptance of these terms.

QuackDB is developed and operated by Zukic.T., an individual developer ("I," "me," or "my"). I am committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about my data practices.

My Privacy Commitment:

  • I limit data collection to the absolute minimum. I only collect what is essential to provide the service.
  • I protect all data to the best of my capability. Your information is secured using industry standard practices.
  • I do not sell your data. Ever. Your information is never sold, rented, or shared for profit.
  • You can request deletion at any time. Contact me and I will delete your data.
  • Your database contents never leave your computer. QuackDB operates locally.

2. Information I Collect

I collect very limited information. QuackDB is designed to work locally on your machine, and I only collect the bare minimum needed to provide the service.

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, I collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your chosen password (stored securely hashed, never in plain text)
  • Your subscription status (free or Pro)

That is it. I do not collect your name, phone number, address, or any other personal details unless you voluntarily provide them.

2.2 Bug Reports

Bug reports are voluntary. If you choose to submit a bug report, I may collect information to help me reproduce and troubleshoot the issue. This may include:

  • A description of the issue and steps to reproduce it
  • Device information such as operating system and browser version
  • App version you are using
  • Your name and email address (if you choose to provide them for follow up)

This information is sent to me via a private channel and is used solely for troubleshooting purposes. I do not share bug report data with anyone. It is only seen by me and is used to identify and fix issues in QuackDB.

You can submit bug reports anonymously if you prefer.

2.3 Payment Information

When you purchase a Pro subscription, payment is processed by Stripe. I do not receive, see, or store your credit card number, bank account, or other sensitive payment details. Stripe provides me only with a transaction ID and confirmation of payment status.

2.4 What I Do NOT Collect

I do not collect:

  • Your database contents, queries, or connection strings
  • Any data from databases you connect to
  • Usage analytics or telemetry from the desktop app
  • Your IP address or location data (except as part of standard web server logs)
  • Any information from your computer beyond what you explicitly provide

The QuackDB desktop application operates entirely on your local machine. Your databases, queries, and data never leave your computer and are never transmitted to me or any third party.

Note: The QuackDB website (quackdb.app) uses cookies for analytics purposes as described in Section 2.5 below. The desktop application does not use cookies.

2.5 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The QuackDB website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. This section explains what cookies are, how we use them, and your choices regarding cookies.

2.5.1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

2.5.2 Cookies We Use

Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics):

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as:

  • Pages you visit on our website

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or allow third parties to set cookies on our website for advertising or marketing purposes. The only third-party cookies are those set by Google Analytics, which are used solely for website analytics as described above.

2.5.6 Desktop Application

The QuackDB desktop application does not use cookies or any tracking technologies. All data remains on your local machine.

3. How I Use Your Information

The limited information I collect is used only for:

  • Creating and managing your account
  • Processing your subscription and verifying Pro status
  • Responding to bug reports and support requests you submit
  • Sending important notices about the service (such as pricing or policy changes)

I do not sell your data. I do not rent, trade, or share your information with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. Your data is not a product. I do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or targeted marketing.

4. Pricing and Payments

4.1 Free Tier

QuackDB offers a free tier that includes core functionality at no cost. The free tier is available indefinitely and includes features such as unlimited database connections, data viewing and editing, query execution, and basic export capabilities. No payment information is required to use the free tier.

4.2 Pro Subscription Pricing

The Pro subscription unlocks additional features and is currently available at:

  • Monthly: $9.99 USD per month
  • Quarterly: $24.99 USD every three months

All prices are in United States Dollars (USD).

4.3 Right to Change Pricing

I reserve the right to change pricing at any time and for any reason.

If I change pricing, I will provide advance notice to existing subscribers before the change takes effect. Notice will be sent via email to the address associated with your account. Price changes will not affect your current billing period. New prices will apply to subsequent renewal periods after the notice period.

4.4 Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. I do not have access to your full payment details. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of your payment information: stripe.com/privacy

4.5 Taxes

Displayed prices may not include applicable taxes. Sales tax, VAT, GST, or similar taxes will be added at checkout based on your location where required by law.

5. Subscriptions

5.1 Automatic Renewal

Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then current rate at each renewal.

5.2 Free Trials

I may offer free trials from time to time. If you do not cancel before a trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription.

5.3 Changing Your Plan

You may change or cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings.

6. Refunds and Cancellations

6.1 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the free tier.

6.2 Refund Policy

All sales are final. Due to the nature of digital products and immediate access upon purchase, I do not offer refunds. I may consider exceptions on a case by case basis at my sole discretion for genuine technical issues that prevent use of the software.

6.3 Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting me to resolve the issue, I reserve the right to immediately terminate your account and access to all services.

7. Third Party Services and Databases

7.1 Services I Use

QuackDB uses the following third party services:

  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • Discord: Community support (optional)

Each service has its own privacy policy. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of third party services.

7.2 Databases You Connect To

QuackDB allows you to connect to databases that you own, control, or have access to.These databases may be local files on your computer or remote databases hosted by third parties.

I have no control over and accept no responsibility for:

  • The databases you choose to connect to
  • The data stored in those databases
  • The security, availability, or integrity of those databases
  • Any data loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to those databases
  • Any actions you take on those databases using QuackDB
  • Any third party database hosting services you use

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have proper authorization to access any database you connect to, maintaining backups of your data, and complying with any terms of service of third party database providers.

8. Data Security

I protect all data to the best of my capability. I implement industry standard security measures to safeguard the limited information I collect. This includes:

  • Passwords stored using secure hashing (never in plain text)
  • Encrypted connections for data transmission
  • Regular security reviews and updates
  • Limiting access to data on a need to know basis

While I work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. I cannot guarantee absolute security, but I am committed to doing everything reasonably possible to protect your data.

Your database data is never transmitted to me. It stays on your computer. The security of your local databases is your responsibility.

9. Data Retention

I retain your account information (email and subscription status) as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, I will remove your information within thirty (30) days, except where I am required to retain records for legal or tax purposes.

10. Your Rights

You have full control over your data. At any time, you may:

  • Request access to the information I hold about you
  • Request correction of any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Cancel your subscription at any time without penalty
  • Export your data in a readable format

Deletion requests are honored promptly. When you request deletion, I will remove your data from my systems within thirty (30) days, except where retention is required by law (such as financial records for tax purposes).

11. Children's Privacy

QuackDB is not intended for use by anyone under the age of sixteen (16). I do not knowingly collect information from children. If I learn that I have collected information from a child under 16, I will delete it.

12. Policy and Pricing Changes

I reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy and pricing at any time, for any reason, at my sole discretion.

For changes to this Privacy Policy, I will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, I will send notice to the email address associated with your account before the changes take effect.

For pricing changes, I will provide advance notice via email before new prices take effect. Your current billing period will not be affected. New prices will apply starting with your next renewal after the notice period.

Your continued use of QuackDB after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

QUACKDB IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement. I do not warrant that QuackDB will be uninterrupted, error free, or free of harmful components.

IN NO EVENT SHALL I BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF QUACKDB.

You use QuackDB at your own risk. I am not liable for any damages resulting from your use of the software, including but not limited to data loss, system failures, or any issues with databases you connect to.

My total liability to you for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid me, if any, in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Zukic.T. from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising from:

  • Your use of QuackDB
  • Your violation of this Privacy Policy or any applicable terms
  • Your violation of any third party rights
  • Any claim that your use of QuackDB caused damage to a third party

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from this Privacy Policy or your use of QuackDB shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration shall take place in Washington State.

YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE SHALL BE RESOLVED INDIVIDUALLY. YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS WIDE ARBITRATION.

16. Severability

If any provision of this Privacy Policy is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to be enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
