Import and export table data as CSV, TXT, JSON or SQL
Bring data into a table from a file, or export a table or query result as CSV, TXT, JSON or SQL.
Data rarely stays in one place. QuackDB lets you export what you see and import files into a table, with a preview before anything is changed.
Formats
| Direction | Formats |
|---|---|
| Export a table or result set | CSV, TXT, JSON or SQL |
| Import into a table | CSV, TXT (including TSV), JSON or PDF |
| Export the schema | SQL |
Export data
- 01Open the table, or run a query, so the rows you want are on screen.
- 02Choose the export button.
- 03Pick a format and a location, then save.
Import data into a table
- 01Open the table that should receive the data.
- 02Choose Import, then Choose File, and select a CSV, TXT, JSON or PDF file. You see a preview and can map columns before anything is imported.
- 03Check the Preview, then choose Continue.
- 04In Column Mapping, match each source column to a column in your table. Auto Match pairs the obvious ones, and Skip column leaves a source column out. You can set a default for empty values. The page shows how many source columns are mapped.
- 05Confirm the import.
Import a database or saved connections
On Recent Connections, the ⋯ menu has Import. Choose a SQLite database file, or a QuackDB connections export (.json) to bring saved connections onto this Mac. Export in the same menu creates that file.
Important
Import changes your data. Try an import on a copy or on the demo database first when the file is new to you. The Logs tab records each import.Export the schema
In the Schema tab, press ⌘ E to export the table definitions as SQL. This is useful for documenting a database or recreating its structure elsewhere.
